Grimshaw joins our 'Housing, infrastructure and culture 2024' discussions this month

Future Cities Forum is delighted that Ewan Jones, Partner at Grimshaw, will be contributing to our 'Housing 2024' debate at The Museum of the Home in Hoxton, London this month.


He will be joining David Christie, Head of Growth and Master-planning at TfL who will be discussing the OBC for extending the DLR to Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead, LLDC's Head of Development Rosanna Lawes, Hackney's Deputy Mayor for Housing Supply, Culture and Inclusive Economy, Guy Nicholson, Neil Kirby, Head of Sustainable Growth at LB Southwark, Cllr Jake Short, Chair Housing, Economy and Business from Sutton Council , John Lewis, Executive Director for Thamesmead from Peabody, Deborah Heenan, CEO of Populo Living, Alan Shingler, Chairman of of Sheppard Robson's Management Board, Philip Earley, Associate at Pilbrow & Partners, Leanna Boxhill, Senior Associate at Wright & Wright, and Jessie Turnbull, Associate at MICA Architects. We will be hosted by Danielle Patten, Director - Creative Programmes and Collections at the Museum of the Home.


Since he joined Grimshaw in 1995, Ewan has promoted architectural concepts where engineering and construction are fully integrated, contributing to each other’s success. Allied to a flair for creative attention to detail, the resulting projects are distinctive structures which span the breadth of scales and sectors.


Ewan is a highly capable designer and an experienced multidisciplinary team leader, and he has the confidence and knowledge required to ensure that complex projects are designed and delivered on time and within budget. He has significant international experience in transport and infrastructure schemes, including railways, airports and bridges. Ewan designed the award-winning Newport City footbridge → and developed HS2’s bridge design guidance.


He was also project architect for the Stirling Prize-shortlisted Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA Station →, and Director of Architecture for Sydney’s North West Rail Link. Following strategic planning and design for Heathrow Airport, Ewan is leading Grimshaw’s team working for EDF at Sizewell.


Ewan’s portfolio includes a growing number of city centre-based projects. He works closely with major developers, and he understands the importance of architectural design in the commercial success of their buildings. Following completion of the Lloyds Bank headquarters →, he gained planning consent for the former London Stock Exchange site and completed the St Botolph Building → work on The Laboratory for Dulwich College → was completed in 2016, and he is also responsible for City Quays 2, which is currently being built within a Grimshaw-designed master plan for Belfast Harbour.

Ewan is a Commissioner at the Design Commission for Wales and co-chair of their design review panel.
