Buro Happold joins 'Global Science Cities' in Cambridge this autumn

Future Cities Forum is delighted that Margarethe Theseira, Director and Head of Consulting UK at Buro Happold will be contributing to our 'Global Science Cities' forum at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, this September. She will join a panel discussing future housing and infrastructure with the Chair of Homes England, Peter Freeman, Cllr Bridget Smith, Leader of South Cambridgeshire Council and Karl Fitzgerald, Director at the Infrastructure & Projects Authority.

 

Margarethe joined Buro Happold in 2022 in the firm's London office to head up the UK consulting team. Her specialisms are policy and regulation, social impact, town centre and high street regeneration, and master-planning. Margarethe also sits on the Cambridge Business Advisory Panel.


She has over 25 years' experience of establishing and managing multi-disciplinary teams to influence the strategic direction of organisations and the effective delivery of their programmes. She supports clients spanning the private and public sectors, charities, and academia in the UK and overseas.

 

Margarethe spent over a decade providing economic and policy advice to the Mayor of London, Greater London Authority and Transport for London and was instrumental in supporting London's bid and delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She is adept at designing and implementing new initiatives and strategies through building strong relationships with stakeholders.

 

She maintains a role in developing city solutions as an appointed member of the Mayor of London's Infrastructure Advisory Panel and as one of three expert advisors for the development of London's Industrial Strategy.

 

Margarethe is a strong advocate of social value and inclusive growth and served as the Chief Advisor to the London Fairness Commission. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute for whom she has developed industry leading research programmes. She is a professor at the Development Planning Unit, University College London where she trains future generations in urban economic development. Margarethe holds a PhD in modelling from Cranfield University.
