Future Cities Forum is delighted that Emily McDonald, Managing Director UK, Buro Happold, will be contributing to our discussion event at The Barbican in June. She will be speaking about Buro Happold's project role on the Barbican Centre's major 'Retrofit and Renewal' programme.

Emily leads Buro Happold's multidisciplinary engineering teams and acts as the senior point of contact for clients. She supports her teams with her significant experience working on a wide range of projects, including innovative new build and refurbishment schemes and brings a passion for integrated design to all the projects she is involved with.

In recent years Emily has also carried out the role of Project Director and latterly Project Principal for a number of significant and diverse schemes across a variety of sectors.

Focussing on the communication of ideas is one of her key strengths, a skill that helps her deliver high-quality, well integrated design and successfully lead multidisciplinary teams.

Emily is passionate about educating the next generation on the fascinating and varied opportunities a career in the built environment can offer. Emily was a Trustee of The Happold Foundation between 2007 – 2017 and is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Creative Education Trust.

She is currently the project principal leading the multi-disciplinary Stratford Waterfront East Bank project in the UK and she leads the engineering as part of the successful team recently appointed for the Barbican Renewal Project in London, UK.
