VeloCity 'turns planning on its head' at Future Cities Forum
We are extremely pleased to welcome Jennifer Ross, Director of Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design, to our Future Cities Forum on 8th May at City Hall, London, where she will be speaking on our first panel alongside L&G Capital and Transport for London discussing new models for infrastructure-led regeneration.
Tibbalds is a practice with expertise in design-led spatial planning projects involving the creation of the new and the enhancement of existing places in the UK and abroad.
The firm is part of VeloCity - a group of architects, planners and engineers - which have come together to find new ways of sustainably linking towns and cities in the UK.
VeloCity has been working on ideas to link six villages through the Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Oxford corridor with new housing and pedestrian/cycle routes.
This was inspired by the National Infrastructure Commission's research, that found that failure to support this geographical arc would ' jeopardise growth, limit access to labour and put prosperity at risk'.
Velocity is putting forward a vision of clustered communities as opposed to ribbon developments, attempting to turning planning 'on its head'. It is placing importance on proper planning of the spaces in between developments.
Jennifer is a chartered town planner with 25 years of planning and urban design consultancy experience working on complex regeneration projects such as Elephant & Castle and Brentford Lock West.
She has particular expertise in the preparation of planning and development strategies and plans in urban regeneration and in dealing with highly complex planning applications to make development happen.
Jennifer has lectured at Manchester, Westminster and Greenwich Universities and is widely experienced in community consultation and local neighbourhood planning.
