TfL's Director of Property Development to speak at 'The Making of the Modern City'
We are looking forward to welcoming Lester Hampson of Transport for London to our next Future Cities Forum at City Hall, London on 8th May.
Lester joined TfL in 2015 to become the Property Development Director for TfL, having previously been Director at Land Securities heading their master moved use projects.
Lester has been associated with several award winning urban regeneration schemes throughout the UK.
TfL, as well as being responsible for over 30 million journeys every day, is also one of London's largest landowners. It owns a 5,700 acre estate that includes land and properties and the organisation says it has huge potential for creating the homes and jobs that the Capital needs.
It states that its landholdings in London can play a vital role in meeting the Mayor's priorities to build affordable homes while generating revenue to invest in improving its transport network.
TfL has introduced its property partnerships framework of 13 leading developers, direct-development and site-specific partnerships and has plans to release its smaller sites.
The programme, it believes, offers an opportunity to build homes and communities around the transport hubs where people want to live and work and TfL confirms that to make the most of this, it wants to work with local authorities, land owners and the best of the property industry.
