Birmingham's hanging gardens of Babylon
Lucky city dwellers in Birmingham may soon get to live in flats looking like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, although the scheme is still at the concept stage.
Architects of Invention backed by a Chinese private equity fund, PGC Capital has designed the flats with hanging greenery at every level and a spacious rooftop garden.
For a growing multicultural population, 'Garden Hill' will also include shared facilities of music recording studios and there will be small rental units for start-ups. It is near the renowned Custard Factory scheme, home to media companies, artists and creative businesses.
It is hoped the proposal will be given planning consent and build can then start in the Digbeth area of the city.
